2004 Buick Rendezvous CXL sounds and handles like a nasty fart!

…but thankfully doesn’t smell like one!

Driving this phlegm-green beast creates the same amount of anxiety as ripping a bad one and wondering if you need to change your pants. It’s loud, it’s rough, and it’s not pleasant. But hey - she runs, she's repairable, and she has some great features!

The UGLY:

The rack and pinion has a slow leak and the way to fix it is to replace the parts. Our independent mechanic quoted $800 minimum for the work. MINIMUM. The constant presence of the resulting orange glowing idiot lights serve as a daily reminder of you and this Snot Shuttle’s mortality. Who doesn’t love that?
The odometer got borked by the previous owner (a mechanic, allegedly) and seems to be 84,000 miles too low, based on Carfax and basic arithmetic. The odometer reads 128,530 but the real mileage is estimated at a low-for-19-years-old 212,500.

PS - We love our mechanic but he’s just one dude and doesn’t report to Carfax. But hey, we’ll throw in the Carfax report! Think of it as our attempt at using Poo-Pourri.

The BAD:

The windshield has a large crack in it. A person with worse vision may call it a ‘beauty mark’ because it was there when we bought it over 5 years ago and hasn’t grown. Too bad you can’t say the same for your waistline!
The battery is near the end of its life, and she's due for an oil change.
There’s some under-carriage rust and a big yellow scar on the side from an unfortunate encounter with a pole (sadly, not the dancing kind) in a parking garage. All in all, she’s still aged better than Val Kilmer.

The GOOD:

Still reading? Oh, cool! Let me tell you about the good stuff this Loud Loogie has to offer. Back in '04, this was a slammin' luxury ride! She's AWD, comfortable and spacious AF, has all-leather interior which is still fairly decent, a sun roof, and can haul a TON of stuff. We've easily fit 6' metal racks in the back without any fancy angles or manuevering, and the occassional 8' piece of lumber (if you don't mind part of it hanging in the air space between the driver and passenger). The stereo sounds good, and the AC works. All the electronics are working, in fact! A little Armor-All and elbow grease can make this old lady shine again!
